LION 0.27 And the META COLOSSUS


Good day to all.

Now the Version 0.27 of LION has been updated, before going to the 0.30 i have to make and Complete all the 3D models for all the children and tier 2 of enemies, including the Dark Tower, the Mass Watcher r and other new enemies such as the UROs witch are the agents of Chaos from the black mass, also the new environmental 3D Models must be made for the Judges Castle witch will be sued for the central part of the test world and the Dark Castle test world, Finally the New Combat Enhancements will be implemented for 0.30, basically Rosamond will have a full arsenal of moves witch must be obtained through NPCs scattered across the land, this moves are inspired in Hipper Light Drifter and will also feature a charge system for attacks similar to Mega-man.

also, The META COLOSUS Boss must be programed, to do this I have to set up a Control rig inside UE5 as I don’t want to use an external 3D application to make the rig as I have to synchronize Gameplay elements with the camera and the animations, the best way to do this is making the animations in Engine. THis is a Test Rig i Made Using Assets from My Project F.O.T.G.E.X i did not Want to mess it up with LION so i decided to do this and the results were amazing, now i have to make a new one for the META COLOSSUS


This is the 3D base model of the Meta COLOSSUS, due its size the best will be to use NANITE to make the 3D Model of this Colossal Beast.

I have already experimented using Nanite in LION, the new 5 Children models made use Nanite Based Weapons, basically their weapons are made with High resolution Meshes of around 250k and 500k i could import to even 2 million and more, but I don’t have to mush hard drive space at the moment.

in here you can see the models here, Lancelord and Shaily the Blue and Yellow children possess Nanite Weapons shown by the Nanite Triangle visualizer, while Idany the green one sones not, her weapon has a reason for this, because is a crossbow, the frontal part articulates and deforms upon shooting thus it cannot use Nanite, the only solution I see is to do a Mechanical articulation and make a special rig for this, this could be done for the Level 3 Crystal weapon of Aidany.



here is Lanian the red child Nanite Weapon, VIctorialem the green one can has her weapon converted to Nanite due being entirely non deformed.



The back Nanite Geometry being seen is from Rocks imported from mega scans, i Will only use natural Meshes form the Quixel Mega Scans such as Rocks, and Trees.

For a simple look it doesn’t seem to be useful to use nanite, except that nanite is way more performant than regular meshes no matter their geometry size, because of it, if possible, weapons should be made with it and armor pieces that will not deform such as Elbow, Legs and Boots armor, I’m testing this I a side project using Previous assets from the other future project FOTGEX that I will make after I Finish and Publish LION.

This will also require to use an special node And blueprints to make the Meshes to follow the Bones Of the Original Mesh, i sue a Dummy low res Mesh as a Reference to know where parts should be, This is the Blueprints used in the Construction Script that I’m going to use that were taken from The Ancient Demo from Epic games.


This takes all the meshes and Collisions under this Components hierarchy that will be considered children, then will Lop Trough them and make naming modifications to match the bones names and thus auto attaching them, then it uses Attach Component to component to attach it to the skeletal mesh, the Nanite meshes and The Collision that is simple a low resolution version of the Nanite Meshes, must be placed in position X 0,Y 0,.Z 0 and their position must match the location on the bone when exported and the pivot must set to the root of the scene at point 0.0.0 for this to work. Here is an example of this using the Original Source reference in the Ancient Battle Demo, having selected one of the pieces you can see that its root is placed in the Center with location 0.0.0 in the X,Y and Z.

The META COLOSSUS is  a boss that is based on this Mechanic enemy, i and will follow the same steps, the Meshes will weight a lot each, as will have fine details that will take advantage of Nanite, but also to Lower the Performance cost of having so many bones with skinned Meshes on them. The Colossus Holds the arena in front of it and can move it at will, the camera will get closer depending on the position of the player and the actions of the colossus as seen here

This will be really fun to program and model, Once the boos is finished, ill will publish another article with the Reasons behind its moves and how to defeat it.
